Joy is in a rough spot, she's not happy in her life, but she also sees no way out.  This wasn't how she planned for her life to be, she had hopes and dreams, but one by one they all crashed around her and she feels pulled under by something bigger, someone bigger.   Joy's life spiraled out of control the minute Dawson left their small town, now he's back and Joy knows two things, one she never got over him and two, she needs him to stay far away and get out of town fast. 

Dawson can't bleive how much things have changed in his absence.  The town, his brother, Joy, and even the man he beleived was his best friend once.  It's hard for Dawson to reconcile the differences he sees as he returns to town for what ws supposed to be a brief trip, but he can't leave things as they are.  He can't turn his back again. 

Deliverance gives us a second chance love story while also delivering us an action packed story about taking down the bad guy and finding a way to get over the past as well.  Joy and Dawson were amazing together, they had love, they had plans, and then they had nothing and Joy was left behind to pick of the pieces.  There is a lot of blame and guilt going on between these two, and mistakes to move past and get over.  Joy isn't safe and she's not in the best frame of mind to stand up for herself and attempt to get out of her situation, but Dawson isn't one to sit back and watch someone he loves get hurt.  

There's a bit of suspense, a whole lot of tension, sexual and otherwise, and a bit of romance.  There's a lot of stuff between these two friends turned lovers turned somewhat enemies, but as they start working through their issues and the things standing between them, its easy to see that though there is hurt, there is still a lot of love remaining.  But to get it all out in the open and move to start over, they both have things to do, and the biggest is to get the man standing between them out of the way.
