Synopsis:

The black-leather-clad biker who just roared up on his Harley doesn’t resemble any single father Emily Clark has ever known. But as she watches “Reb” bonding with his son, Emily realizes there’s a lot more to this bad boy than his alpha-male attitude or his sinful good looks. And when Reb takes an interest in her, there’s no way she can resist his surprisingly tender touch. The one thing Emily won’t give up is her hard-won independence.

As president of the True Brothers MC, Reb owes a sacred debt of loyalty to the club, but his first priority is making sure that his son grows up right. Pursuing an unexpected affair with Emily is a close second. Then a violent stalker threatens her life, and this unconventional guardian angel really turns up the heat. Nobody messes with Reb, or anyone under his protection. Trouble is, how’s he supposed to defend Emily when she insists on going it alone? He’s willing to put his life on the line for her. Now, maybe, he needs to open his heart.

REVIEW

Rebellious is book two in the True Brothers MC series and gives us the story of the President of the True Brothers MC story.

Emily knows a little about bikers because her best friend is involved with one, so when she unexpected finds herself involved with not just a biker, but the President of the MC, she's not sure how to handle it all.  Emily is a strong person, loving, kind, but also someone who's learned the hard way that some people in the world are not the same, they aren't nice and they aren't loving.  She's still trying to deal with the fall out of her last relationship.  When Emily discovers that one of the children from a neighboring apartment is being left to care for himself, locked out of his home, she can't help but step in to help him, which throws her right in the path of Reb.

Reb knew his ex wasn't worth much, she's full of trouble, and content to bleed him dry of money while making his life difficult in other areas too.  The only good thing that came out of that relationship was his son, but when he finds out he's not being taken care of as it should, Reb's not about to let it go. He's also not about to let Emily walk out of his life either, because there's something about her that calls to him and he knows he needs to find out what it is.

The road is rocky for Emily and Reb as they try to maintain a relationship that works for both of them. There are struggles between them with control, who has it, who wants it, and a compromise of give and take on both parts.  But there's also danger lurking in the wings, a stalker who's not happy with Emily and is threatening her, but is it who Reb and Emily expect or is there an unknown danger.

Rebellious blends the story of blossoming romance between Reb and Emily with MC struggles and Emily's stalker really well. I got a feel for it all as I was reading and each aspect sort of ramped up the suspense a little, wondering who was really behind the danger Emily was facing, and why.  Lots of questions and theories entered my mind as I picked up on bits and pieces of the MC's struggles and Emily's past as well.

This was my first book by Gillian Archer, and the writing definitely grabbed me and now I'll have to go back and read book 1.  I liked that this story wasn't just like all the other MC books out there, but rather gave its own different spin on things.
