I’m not your boyfriend. I’m not the guy next door. I don’t even play nice.
My hands twisting in your hair, my whispered demand in your ear—I’m the fantasy you’ll wish you never had.
When I’m through with you, every inch of your body will know where I’ve been. You won’t crave more, you’ll beg for it. Because I’m not just the cocky smile with military hardened muscles you paid five grand for—I’m the experience you’ll never forget.
One night with me and you’ll know exactly why women pay me to be rough.

REVIEW

One of my favorite things about the books in this series by Sybil Bartel is that I can always expect Hot Alpha Males who fall for someone they don't expect and they do it in fun and interesting ways.

Jared was not at all ashamed of the work he did or the money it made him, he had a plan and knew what he ultimately wanted from life; and then she appeared.

Sienna is a sweet, naive, girl who's pretty much written off relationships with men, now she's in it for the sex only.  But when her usual call boy (ha!) passes her off to another escort, Sienna isn't sure what to think of the brash and rough Jared who has no problems saying exactly what he's thinking or putting it all out there.

To say Jared's life is sort of blown up with the appearance of Sienna is putting it mildly - she changes him slowly but surely, pulling him deeper into their connection but also making him feel things he didn't expect to feel.  And Sienna is changed by Jared too - he's not at all the kind of man she's used to and for some reason that compels her further to get to know him.

Their ride isn't easy, they have a lot of things to work out between them, jealousy issues, figuring out the relationship thing and a few other surprise twists that pop up as the story progresses.  But the chemistry between them is sparking, and the way they change attitudes of each other lends further realism to their connection making their story grab me and pull me into it.  From drama to emotional moments, Rough has it all, giving life to a new start for these two people who met under odd circumstances but found something they've not had before; ultimately their person.

I also enjoyed watching as we got to see more of side characters within the story - how their overall stories overlap a little bit bringing us things from another viewpoint.  Sybil has a way of really drawing out the connections between her characters, making us feel the bond that her alphas have through their work connections, no matter their current  field, and further making me curiuos to know more about those characters in future books.

I'm looking forward to more dirty birds in the next book of this series, and perhaps a clue or two for furture romances too.

Author Bio:
Sybil Bartel grew up in Northern California with her head in a book and her feet in the sand. She dreamt of becoming a painter but the heady scent of libraries with their shelves full of books drew her into the world of storytelling. She loves the New Adult genre, but any story about a love so desperately wrong and impossibly beautiful makes her swoon.
Sybil now resides in Southern Florida and while she doesn’t get to read as much as she likes, she still buries her toes in the sand. If she isn’t writing or fighting to contain the banana plantation in her backyard, you can find her spending time with her handsomely tattooed husband, her brilliantly practical son and a mischievous miniature boxer…
But Seriously?
Here are ten things you probably really want to know about Sybil.
She grew up a faculty brat. She can swear like a sailor. She loves men in uniform. She hates being told what to do. She can do your taxes (but don’t ask). The Bird Market in Hong Kong freaks her out. Her favorite word is desperate…or dirty, or both—she can’t decide. She has a thing for muscle cars. But never reply on her for driving directions, ever. And she has a new book boyfriend every week—don’t tell her husband.

  1. Great review, Kris! This sounds like a very character driven story, and great chemistry is a must for me in a romance book! Glad you liked it! :)
