Sometimes fate gets it all wrong.

Zoey Kent has lived with that fact ever since she turned eighteen and learned that the man she loved could never be hers. He’s a born shifter, a wolf, and she’s a mere human. Fate doesn’t care if on paper they’re a perfect pair. She isn’t his fated mate and she’s resigned herself to the knowledge that someday, she’ll have to watch Michael mate with another. It’s never crossed her mind that there might be someone else out there for her, that she would be the one to mate another, to choose another over everything she’s ever known or wanted.

Sometimes fate gets it all right.

Rafe Hudson left his pack behind years ago. Physically and mentally scarred from an attack that left his parents and twin dead, he walked away from his responsibilities as Alpha. He never intended to return but lone wolf or not, he can’t leave Michael open to an attack he’s learned is coming for his only brother. What he didn’t know was that going home would mean scenting his mate, the one person in the world that could make him whole again, that could give him everything he thought he’d lost. His pack, his home and his family.

But fate always has a plan.

There’s no way Michael’s brother is her future, is there? Just like there’s no way that the girl his brother has loved since they were kids, was always meant to be his, right?

Only fate knows why they were brought together but there is one thing for sure, the sparks between Zoey and Rafe are undeniable. The bond between them is unbreakable. And together… they’ll change the face of the pack forever.

Review

Unbreakable Bond is a great take on the fated mates theory with it's own unique twists and world of shifters.  Jess Bryant has created a special universe for her paranormal duet - and in it the characters drive an emotional story and a compelling love match.

I really loved the angle of finding your mate where you absolutely least expect it and how that affects other relationships around you.  It added just that extra touch of angst and drama to make the rightness of Zoey and Rafe's match work.

Zoey and Michael have been friends forever, they've grown together, shared a lot, and they've thought for years they were meant to be mates, but when they come of age and the mate bond doesn't come to fruition, they realize they were wrong and that leaves them both dismayed.   Imagine both Zoey and Michael's surprise when his long lost brother returns and they discover Rafe is her mate. Though it explains so much about their feelings, it is hard to understand as well.

Rafe left his pack years ago after suffering trauma and loss, never really planning to return, when he's asked by a friend for assistance, he makes the journey home to request his brother's help for their friend. Never imagining he'd find his mate on the short trip, Rafe is stunned, and concerned because he doesn't know how to be a mate, he doesn't feel he's the best man for the job - but he's also determined to figure it out because he's certain Zoey is meant to be His.

In many ways, Zoey is the answer to Michael and Rafe's problems, she's the balm to Rafe's wolf, and she's the link between the brothers.  I really love how it all worked between them once the initial dust started to settle. The interactions were fraught with pain and emotions, but there was also a special rightness, that feeling of this has to work.  I really enjoyed how Bryant brought all of those feelings to life among the characters and delivered a powerful story.

I absolutely cannot wait for Michael to find his mate and earn his own happiness.
